PONDER THIS! Anxiety is Reality in Action by Hazel Rosetta Smith

Senseless killings abound wrapped in new coverings to justify how they can be overlooked or undermined. Lives are snuffed out with no reservation or hesitation. Cameras collect heinous activities and clearly identify the perpetrators at the decisive moment of lives taken. In the land of the free, the words “not guilty” are spoken defiantly in courtrooms in the face of crime confirmations. We wonder if we can trust our eyes as we watch the cameras roll. Prosecutors are stuck in fighting for what is right when judges stall the process. A free pass becomes an easy handout for criminals who garner a hung jury resolution. We watch and wonder how it can happen. As congressional face to face bouts of insults and negative rhetoric spew from leaders with low morals and acute shortness of empathy, we wonder how low the government will go, as their mandates play out like a reality show. Remember when First Lady Michelle Obama said, “when they go low, we go high.” That was in 2017, and today we see how low we have let them go. We are hearing nitwit commentary toward everything and everybody. Some Americans are in utter shock and others are in awe. The laws of the nation are ignored as the process to take the highest seat in the land moves along with full-blown blatant ignorance revealed for the world to see. With reverence for the sanctity of safety, respect for human life and gratitude for survivorship, let there be order and let it begin with each of us. Gather up your natural resources and hang tough in the rough. Just as COVID-19 and other diseases have invaded our bodies, and refuse to let go, we must stay steady and participate in the healing. The word “woke” has been spun as a way of keeping a watch on your surroundings. It is more important than ever that we keep our eyes open for ways to maneuver through the madness. We cannot allow anyone to put their shackles of bondage on our aspirations of a future that is ours rightfully, as citizens. This may very well be a bumpier 4-year ride coming up. Do not allow your mind to be filled with needless smut for amusement’s sake. The decisions we make right now must focus on individual and collective means of community survival. The outgoing Biden administration has the pedal to the metal in efforts to solidify help in dire strait areas, thankfully confirming a $2,000 prescription drug cap. More is coming; it is not too late. Change will come in a few short days. The good, the bad and the ugly will be on full display in high places. Do not despair. Remain committed to the positive over the negative in your actions and mindset. Good news will prevail. We shall rise and thrive if we stay focused on what we bring to the plate. Respect yourself!
